I started working in Dr. Gong Chen's lab, developing cell-conversion methods to treat stroke patients, because both of my grandfathers suffered strokes in their lives.
They were thankfully both able to receive care within a 24-hour window so they weren't majorly affected, but it still took a toll on their lives and not so many people are as fortunate.
I pursue medicine because I want to help heal people, and because I'm fascinated by the complex machine that is the human body.
